|What's the deal on Right to Use?
Will I receive a deed?
No! You are using the unit for the term of the contract.
What if the unit goes through foreclosure while I have a rental contract?
You will have the option of selecting a different unit, if one is available, or the contract is terminated.
Can I extend the contract term when it is about to expire?
Yes, you have the right of first refusal.
What if I find that I cannot pay for the remaining term, or want to terminate the contract?
All you have to do is notify our office of your wishes.
Do I have the right to deposit the unit with an exchange company?
Yes. You may also have us rent the unit out, you may rent it to someone you know, or you may send a guest to use it. you may use the unit as if you owned it for the term of the contract, as long as your fees are paid in advance.
What is my annual cost for the unit?
As with ownership, your annual rental cost is equal to current Maintenance Fees plus the appropriate sales and occupancy taxes.
If I have a last minute conflict with the unit week, can I get my money back or select another week?
No. Your paid rent on your unit locks you in, just as ownership does. No In-House exchanges will be permitted.
I am the owner of another unit. Do I have to abide by the same rules and regulations as regular renters?
Yes. Although you have commited to multiple years, you are still a renter; and must conform to the stipulations of our rental contract under the North Carolina Vacation Rental Act.
If after a year I decide that I want to vacation during a different week, can I exchange to another week for the remainder of the term?
Not exactly. You can select a different unit/week, but must sign a new contract. There is a $75 fee to change units during the term of the contract.
Where do these units come from?
Over the last thirty years, people disappeared or died without making arrangements for their deeded timeshare property. We have been unsuccessful at reaching the owners of record, (expecially if they are dead). Foreclosure is the only way we can get ownership of the units back to Christie Village, but the process is expensive. This plan is the only way that we can be relatively sure of receiving payment of the maintenance fees for the unit/week. It helps Christie Village and it helps those who want a unit/week of timeshare without the burden of a deed.
What happens when my contract expire?
The contract ends on the last day of your week after two or four years. Your simply walk away from it or extend the term. If you do not extend the term, the unit goes back on the Christie Village Rental list.
Where can I get a copy of my deed?
You can get a copy of your deed from the Watauga County Register of Deeds at http://www.wataugacounty.org and then go to Document Search.
How do I change the names on my deed?
Changing names on the deed is very easy. Just send a message to email@example.com and we will tell you how.
When are my maintenance fees due?
Annual maintenance fees are invoiced in the fall of each year. The are due by December 31 of that year. Unpaid balances may be assessed a late charge of 8% interest per annum.
What dates do my week fall on?

When are the Association Co-Owners meetings?
All owners are invited to the annual meeting held each fall. A notice of meeting is mailed to all owners.

Can I bring a pet?
Pets will be allowed for homeowners only. There will be a maximum of two (2) pets allowed per unit. There will be a $25 per pet charge per week. Pets must be well behaved and housebroken. Pets cannot disturb other residents during their stay. Pets must be crated when the owners are away from their unit. Any damage done by the pet(s) will result in an additional charge to the homeowner. There is a "no pet" policy in effect for Interval Exchanges and rentals.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Weekly rentals are normally Friday with check-in at 4 PM and check-out the following Friday. For shorter stays, the same hours will apply. Please check with the office if an earlier or later time is required.
Do I need a 4-wheel drive vehicle?
During the winter months, when snow and ice is present on the roads, passage beyond Banner Elk requires either 4-wheel drive or tire chains. There is a place at the bottom of Beech Mountain Parkway where chains may be rented.
What cell phone coverage is there at the resort?
Verizon is usually good, although you may get service from other carriers. AT&T service is usually not available. There are telephones in each condominium for your use.
Can we bring more than one car?
Yes, we do have a large paved parking lot, but when our occupancy is high, parking may be limited.
Is there a restaurant or lounge on the resort?
No, but there are many dining and drinking establishments on Beech Mountain or down the mountain in Banner Elk.
Do you have internet access?
Yes, we have internet wireless routers on the property. They are accessible from all units. If your laptop does not automatically connect to one, look for the Christie Village routers on your list of wireless connections.
Do I need to bring anything special with me?
No. All units contain full linens for the bedroons, bathrooms, and kitchen; also complete kitchen utensils. The kitchens also have a microwave oven, toaster, coffeemaker, range, and refrigerator. Cable TV is also provided. Enough toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent and bars of soap are provided for a long weeekend. The guest is expected to provide supplies for a longer stay. You may want to bring your favorite cooking spices or a hair dryer.
Do you permit smoking in the units?
No. All units of Christie Village are non-smoking. Smoking is permitted on the patios and outside areas, but guests are reminded to be cautious of fire resulting from residual smoking materials.
What can I burn in the fireplaces?
Only firelogs are permitted to be burned in the fireplaces.
Are linens provided mid-week?
No. Linens are not exchanged during your stay. If you need to exchange linens, contact the office for exchange. An additional fee will apply.
